Marketing Tip For Beginning Marketers

Marketing Tip For Beginning Marketers

by LetterMall on Sat Aug 09, 2008 5:38 am

You know ... it kind of erks me when I see some so called guru launch a product
that is supposed to be the latest and greatest thing YOU really really need. Or
a NEW idea or process.

Of course, what they don't tell you is that they've already maximized it for the
profits and now is old hat.

BUT .. what erks me even more is watching all the new marketers getting sucked
in because they honestly believe these rich well known marketers have the answers.

Here's A Tip

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX .. rather use your own head.

For example. Here is an excerpt from an email that was forwarded to me.
===========
Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately;

1. illegal immigration
2. hurricane recovery
3. alligators attacking people in Florida

Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.

1. Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
2. Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.
3. Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
============

A classic example of thinking "outside the box"

Use what you have. The ability to think ... along with the ability to see that things
go in phases here on the internet.

From pop-ups to pop-unders .. then pop-up blockers .. fly-in ads .. audio on your site ....
now video on your site ... etcetera

Just because some guy that has bilked millions from new marketers says something ...

DON'T TAKE IT AS GOSPEL .... USE YOUR HEAD

Most importantly ... keep your money in your pocket until you do see a product that
warrants purchasing and NOT because you're told it's the latest and greatest. Or that
you absolutely must have it to be successful.

I know a marketer that plods along .. makes excellent income .. and doesn't use all the
so-called latest gadgets. He does use video now for training purposes but that's it.

If he can do it ... WITHOUT all the bells and whistles ... so can we all.

Great post, and you have made some valid points. Points that I am always trying to get across to those on my list, if only most of the Newbies out there were to stop and take heed.

Really Sad

You know .. it's really sad to see people waste time and money chasing their
dream. Marketing online really depends on TWO things.

1. A Viable Business .. whether it be an ebook biz, software biz, blog on gardening .. etc.
2. Traffic (customers) to visit your business.

Simple actually.

With all the different methods of attracting/sending traffic to ones business, it's
interesting to see so many that don't even experiment with "one" long enough to see
if it's going to work for them. They try something some guru told them (or sold them)
but when they don't see 50,000 visitors they move on to another guru special that's
supposedly guaranteed to drive traffic.

Which brings up another point. The "GUARANTEE"

You MUST READ the guarantee .. and read it closely.
For example:
I guarantee you I can show you a method that drives tremendous traffic to your site.

Did I guarantee you the "traffic" .. NO, NOPE, NADA .. I only guaranteed you
I would "SHOW" you a "METHOD"

You "must" read with caution and look at the actual wording.

If I said .. I guarantee you 50,000 visitors in 24 hours or your money back

Then if you only got 1 to 49,999 .. you could make good on the guarantee
and get your money back. In the first example, the method would be
shown and therefore meet the guarantee.

See what I mean?

Read Smart and Pay Attention ... SEE what they are REALLY saying!
There's a lot of TRICKERY on the net.

Guess I'll shut up for now ... ~smile~

M'bership Club's the answer.

by LivingCovers on Mon Aug 11, 2008 5:10 pm

Great tip Lettermall,

I think one of the ways to avoid being misled by these 'so-called IM gurus' is to search for Membership sites that offer Unique products/resources which one can utilize to start Internet Marketing. This way you won't have to go here or there looking for one product or the other to buy. The membership site would have already made all the resources available to start off with, thereby saving you a lot of cash in the process.

Guru Garbage

by KonaGirl on Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:14 pm

The one that really makes me laugh, is when I get an email from a so called "guru" peddling a "How I made a gazillion dollars in 7 days" piece of "guru garbage" only to see the same guy on a forum a few days later asking, "How do I make money online?". And the topper of it all is his signature that says "Let me teach you how to make a gazillion dollars in 7 days". Too funny.

People, let me tell you here and now, you will not make a gazillion dollars in 7 days.

If you work on a project all by your lonesome without farming any of it out to someone else, it will take months of work to market your own product.

After you put in all of the work that it takes to get everything ready for a launch, you just might make a huge amount of money, but that 7 day period will only be after you have done all of the work leading up to your sale.

Please. please, please - quit buying all of the guru garbage and focus on one project at a time until you start seeing the checks roll in.

June

Here's Another Tip ....

by LetterMall on Tue Aug 12, 2008 12:14 am

First .. June .. I LOVE your posts BTW.

Here's the tip ...

Research everything .. especially if it's coming from a "guru"

Case in point:

I recently received an email promotion from a guru about a fantastic new product.
Etcetera .. Etcetera

So, I did my "due diligence" and researched it.

Guess What ... it was a product well over a year old. Not only did I find it
so much CHEAPER but also where others were offering it as a free bonus.

The moral to the story ..

If you don't care how much money you waste,
then just buy everything that hits your inbox without question.

Another ...

Research ANY new product. Do you have any idea how many Link Cloakers
are out there. I saw a NEW ONE just the other day. New package, graphics, etc.

Thing is .. it didn't do anything different than the FREE ones you can find
all over the net.

Who needs it anyway. A simple redirect page coded to hide the internal link
will work just as good. It's also better, in my opinion, since it will show a
link on your site and not some "snipurl", etcetera. It also allows immediate
update if an affiliate link changes or disappears. You don't have to worry
about where you've placed links all over the net that don't work anymore.

SO ...

RESEARCH EVERYTHING

Again ...

RESEARCH EVERYTHING

You'll be glad you did.

You cannot do everything at once...

by IdahoGent on Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:01 pm

One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received was to stop trying the latest and greatest method advertised and stick with the basics: Product; Domain; Host; Squeeze Page; Traffic building and Replicate.

That is what I am doing now. Smile Smile

Doug ,

That is a definite 10-4 Eleanor.

I do know how difficult it can be for someone that is just starting out, but as you stated,
it is important to just start with the basic, follow the tried and true steps, focus on what
you are building and do not let the "guru garbage" get you side-tracked.

Do your diligent research to find the niche market that you want to target.
Once you have found it, select your domain name & register it
Get your web hosting account to host your website (yes, you must do this)
Write your articles and post them
Create a product (yes, you can)
Put up your web pages ( sales, landing, thank-you, etc)
Learn how to drive free traffic
Create another product (It is easier the 2nd time around)

These are all important basic steps off of the top of my head, and not
necessarily in order, that are part of the process that needs to be focused upon.
If you don't know how to do any of them, quit buying the crappola and get what
you need to teach yourself the basic steps.

Forget about the" latest and greatest". There will always be more of them when you
are ready, but until you get the basics accomplished you will only be wasting your money.

You will think that if you get them now you can save them on your hard-drive until
you really need them.

Not so. When you finally get to that point they will be obsolete, as the Internet changes
at such a rapid pace.

Only get what you need now. Take it step by step.

When you are ready to learn the next step, search out the product that will be the best
benefit for you.

Ask questions on forums to find out if what you are looking at is worth the money.

This doesn't always work as some sheeple, I mean people, don't know the difference between
a viable product and a piece of vague crap, but at least it is a start and you will get answers
that you will be able to weigh against each other.

I hope this helps!
