Drowning in leads... what would you do?

Drowning in leads... what would you do?

by lodester on Wed Jun 11, 2008 3:57 pm

Hello;
I've been operating a free classifieds for the past 2 years. I get on average about 20 signups per day.
To lots of you that may be a good thing. To me it's a big problem: I don't know what to sell to my signups.
The problem is that not every person signs up for the same category. There are 20 categories total.
So.... What could I promote to my signups that's generic enough to apply to all the signups? I don't really
want to promote one product per category. It means I would have to promote 20 different products....
Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks.

Suggestion ...

Seems to me that you need to add some text in your sign-up
that they agree to receive periodic emails from you ... if you
don't already have it. Kind of like .. adding a newsletter subscription
to the sign up process.

Then .. offer a "Fee Based" classified as well that will then be sent to
all your sign-ups. Simply send email with the "paid" ads
inside along with any other product(s) you want. Perhaps do
this once a week.

You might also add something "free" for them to download in
each ad email. This adds to the number of them that
will actually get opened. If you don't personally have enough
items with give-away rights, you can offer to list one for your
subscribers. This in turn will help them build their list.

Just something to think about ....

I think it is a great idea to start a paid classified as you can make money from selling the ad space and then sign up to the affiliate programs of those who are paying for ads and then send the ads to your free classified list. That way you make money twice, once for ads and twice off of affiliate programs it is a win win situation. OK some may say it is not unethical to do it like that as these people have already paid to place ads but hey your in business to make money not friends.

I would target my efforts and focus on just a few catagories at a time.

On the bright side, you certainly have a problem that the majority of
people who start a business would love to have, so congrats to you.

Get your self in order, come up with a gameplan, and give people more what
it was they signed up for.

You know .... I thought about this post ever since I replied to it earlier.

The thing that kept coming to mind was the quoted portion of your post above.

It seems to me that you "really" don't want to be an internet marketer.

Just give me the opportunity to provide something for all 20 categories.
I'd be happy to sell them something. ... ALL 20

Now ... what about Sub-Categories. Bet I could find plenty of niche products.
If not, no problem, I'd create them.

Bottom line ... if your not willing to WORK ... then you shouldn't be in business.

Just my opinion ....
